The 66th Cannes Film festival kicked off on Wednesday with red carpet glamour. Few events can compete with the sheer spectacle, star power and the quality of luxury super & mega yachts in attendance.
All eyes were on Cannes in the French Riviera this week as the Festival kicked off on Wednesday with the screening of Baz Luhrmann’s lavish version of The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan.
As the 'SuperyachtSet' and A-list stars of the silver screen decended on Cannes, the hottest, most exclusive ticket parties are taking place aboard the various luxury yachts in the marina or anchored offshore. Last year Paul Allen’s Cannes bash is being talked about as one of the most rocking Film Festival parties of the year. Guests, including Antonio Banderas and Jeremy Irons, danced until the early hours to the Microsoft co-founder’s band (in which he plays guitar) aboard his 127ft superyacht, Octopus. This year looks set to be no exception as his other 82m yacht, Tatoosh, is anchored offshore in Cannes bay and will no doubt play host to the most talked about social party at the event.
As well as the armada of private yachts in-and-around Cannes, this year numerous luxury charter yachts are also in attendance, including 'Lady S', the beautiful 68m Amels yacht and the 60m Solemates by Lurssen which are at anchor. Inside Le Vieux Port, the Feadship motor yacht Harle, the popular corporate charter yacht, is sitting alongside other luxury charter yachts including Oasis, Superfun and 'Told U So', the elegant Benetti, famous for her amazing cuisine.
