See and be seen: The Mediterranean beach clubs loved by celebrities

By Katia Damborsky   Last Updated: 3 April 2023

The Mediterranean is a playground for celebrities during the summer months, and the beach clubs from Ibiza to the French Riviera play host to an array of famous people as the weather warms up.

The Mediterranean has no shortage of beach clubs for you to visit as part of your private yacht charter vacation. Plenty of them have the celebrity seal of approval, and many famous faces can usually be seen at an exclusive handful of beach clubs throughout the region.

Fancy rubbing shoulders with A-listers on your next luxury yacht charter in the Mediterranean? Read on to discover the best of the best.

Fontelina, Capri

This Italian enclave on the rocks of Capri has humble roots, beginning life as a small restaurant housed in a rustic shack. It was first put on the proverbial map by Sophia Loren and Bridgitte Bardot in the 1960s, and it quickly became a hotspot for silver screen stars from the Hollywood heyday.

What it lacked in facilities, Fontelina more than made up for in prime location, unbeatable character and an incredible menu; and the same is true today.

The venue has expanded to include a beach club carved into a rocky outcrop with steps leading into the sea. The restaurant remains, serving catch-fresh seafood and sweet sangria laced with peaches from the island.

The view over the iconic Faraglioni rock formation is still as enticing as ever, and this impressive situation means that Fontelina is no stranger to those arriving by superyacht as part of a Capri yacht charter

Nikki Beach, Ibiza

It’s all too easy to understand the celebrity appeal of this Nikki Beach outpost on the White Isle. Located on the picture-perfect island of Formentera, the venue is replete with luxurious facilities including a pool, restaurant and small lifestyle boutique.

During the day, you can laze in the sun under the voile of a sunbed and sip a freshly-blended mojito. With a gentle summery soundtrack and the sound of turquoise waves lapping the sandy shore, Nikki Beach embodies the epitome of a tropical oasis.

After some shut-eye, head to Nikki Beach’s restaurant. The menu here is vast, so every diner will be well-catered to no matter what their tastes.

As the sun goes down, Nikki Beach is transformed into the beating heart of Ibiza’s party scene. Expect DJs taking to the decks and chart-topping artists stepping in to provide a sensational night of partying below a star-studded sky.

La Conca Del Sogno, Amalfi Coast

On the tip of the Amalfi Coast lies Nerano, a tiny town covered mostly by craggy cliffs and pine trees. Just outside the town is Racommone Bay, a sheltered crescent of land overlooking the sapphire-blue Tyrrhenian sea.

Not only does the venue offer a blissful beach club, but it is also home to a lovely little restaurant that has been critically acclaimed for its superb Italian cuisine and locally-sourced ingredients.

Here, you can take a seat on the terrace and enjoy looking out over the ocean as you sample whatever is on the menu that day. Between courses, the restaurant offers Sgroppino al Limon, a palette cleanser that doubles as both a desert and a digestif. This tart dish consists of homemade lemon sorbet, sharp vodka and ice-cold champagne, and is served in a flute.

After this incredible taste sensation, be sure to take a dip and enjoy this Mediterranean enclave as part of an Italy yacht charter vacation.

Le Club 55, St Tropez

This Cote d’Azur beach club is considered one of the original and best. It was the go-to place to dine for the cast and crew of the 1956 film And God Created Woman, and since then it has grown rapidly in popularity.

With its private own jetty, Le Club 55 is the prime candidate for those undertaking a South of France luxury yacht charter.

Once on shore, expect a polished, barefoot luxury vibe. The boho-chic venue offers a number of dining areas in the sand, surrounded by Mediterranean pines that add to the uniqueness of the set-up.

After you dine, be sure to head to the beach; this sandy strip is one of the most pristine on the French Riviera. Sip a chilled glass of champagne while looking out over the turquoise sea.

Nammos, Mykonos

This beach club is easily one of the finest in the Mediterranean in terms of facilities, and the crowds of superyachts out at anchor opposite the venue are certainly a fitting testament to that.

The world-famous Nammos is home to an upscale eatery, a chic beach club, 4 private cabanas with pools and several prestigious fashion houses for visitors to peruse.

In the midst of a white sand beach, you can easily while away an entire day at Nammos. Start with some rest and relaxation on the beach, then enjoy a platter of tasty sushi at the restaurant.

Before the beach party scene takes over, be sure to hire one of the cabanas. Take a quick dip in your own private pool, take advantage of the butler service and get ready for the biggest and best party in Greece

Blue Marlin, Ibiza

Another Ibizan celebrity pilgrimage is Blue Marlin. This beach club promises an unrivaled party atmosphere throughout the day and well into the night.

During the day, you can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, or indulging in a massage at the hands of one of the venue’s resident masseuses.

Afterward, choose from a choice of four inviting restaurants that each offer a signature menu of flavor-forward dishes. Choose between Mediterranean cuisine, sushi, light bites and a bar that offers delicious drinks and fresh fruit.

In the evenings, Blue Marlin’s visitors can indulge in a VIP clubbing experience, with an open-air dancefloor and DJ decks enlivening the state-of-the-art party experience.

TreVille Beach Club, Amalfi Coast

Set outside the picture-perfect-picture town of Positano on Italy’s alluring Amalfi Coast, TreVille Beach Club is an uber-exclusive haven tucked away from the crowds.

Best accessed by yacht, the restaurant is designed to ensure diners feel at one with the ocean. The terrace overlooks a strip of beach, while the indoor area features high ceilings, French Windows flung open and rich blue contrasted by crisp white.

After your meal, head out onto the beach club for some celebrity-spotting, but be warned; the beauty of TreVille is that everyone is treated equally, so be sure you’re being subtle.

The beach is sheltered, the water is calm and the surface of the sea is so clear it resembles a polished stone. Enjoy a refreshing dip before heading back on land for an aperitif while watching the sunset.

Anjuna, Monaco

Easily the most hip and happening beach club on the French Riviera, Anjuna is hard to reach by land, making it a prime stop-off among the yachting crowd. Nestled in a secluded cove, Anjuna is located just twenty minutes away from Monte-Carlo in the town of Eze.

While the beach is narrow, Anjuna makes it up with its warm and welcoming energy that instantly puts you at ease.

Take a seat on the central dining terrace, which is furnished with a quirky Balinese theme, and enjoy lamb shoulder, suckling pig, or treasures from the sea.

The vibe is relaxed during the day, but the party vibes certainly kick up a gear as the sun sets. Expect DJ sets and dancing, as Anjuna’s visitors come together to create an unforgettable party experience.
