South East Asia
26 Jan - 12 Feb 2020
The 2020 Chinese New Year will bring out the most spectacular superyachts South East Asia has to offer when the celebrations get underway on 25 January.
With festivities taking place across the cruising grounds of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, the Chinese New Year is one of the greatest celebrations on Asia’s yachting calendar.
Celebrations will get underway on Chinese New Year’s Eve – 24 January – with firecrackers welcoming in the lunar new year and good luck. The festival then lasts for another two weeks until 11 February.
Also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, it provides the perfect chance to escape on board a superyacht with family or friends to celebrate the start of the year of the rat in the utmost style.
Not only will charterers be able to revel in the luxury and exceptional service only a superyacht can provide, but they will also be able to discover some of the world’s most beautiful cruising grounds.
Celebrations spread from China across South East Asia, and a yacht charter at this time of year enables charterers to experience the region at its best. Travellers can expect parades, festive street bazaars, firework displays, lantern shows and dragon dances.
In particular, vibrant processions take place at Singapore’s popular River Hongbao event, celebrations rev up in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur and street food, firecrackers and traditional dances are to be enjoyed at the Old Phuket Festival in Thailand.
