After closing doors on its fourth consecutive edition yesterday, reports back from the 2014 Singapore Yacht Show indicate that it was the most successful year to date, both in terms of attendance and feedback from visitors and exhibitors.
The show was once again held at the ONE°15 Marina Club in the cosmopolitan area of Sentosa Cove where record numbers of visitors were reported each day as well as a number of yacht sales and leads confirmed.
Since its debut in 2010, the event has rapidly increased in size and popularity, giving rise to the promise and high expectations to the growing yacht market in Asia. Interviews and feedback from the industry’s leading builders, brokers and designers during this year’s show all suggest that there is a great amount of positivity held moving forward in Asia.
There were a number of impressive charter yachts in attendance this year including the 60m/197’ superyacht CLOUD 9 and the 50m/160’7 motor yacht EXUMA, and the 67m Alloy Yacht - VERTIGO, all of which attracted huge numbers of visitors held a number of glamorous cocktail parties. Both charter yachts have enjoyed a successful winter cruising season with a number of visits throughout Asia, the Middle East and Thailand.
As the centre for superyacht activity in Asia, the ONE°15 Marina Club has provided the perfect setting for the Singapore Yacht Show, and will continue to for the next two years due to its chic atmosphere and great selection of waterfront bars, restaurants and hotels. This no doubt holds some appeal to the abundance of visitors jetting in from around the world this year, each looking to enjoy the buzzing atmosphere as well as the line-up of superyachts.
The swelling numbers we are seeing this year prove there’s a tangible appetite for the yachting lifestyle here in Asia.
Managing Director of Singapore Yacht Events, Andy Treadwell commented on the outstanding daily attendance at this year’s event: “The swelling numbers we are seeing this year prove there’s a tangible appetite for the yachting lifestyle here in Asia. Many of our exhibitors who are new to the market in this region have been delighted by the reception they have received, from yacht builders and charter brokers to manufacturers and service providers.”
The success of the Singapore Yacht Show 2014 not only marks the increased popularity for yachting in Asia but also the industry as a whole and is a great way to kick of the Mediterranean show season.
