Welcoming more and more Mediterranean yacht charters to the official listing each day, the 2025 MYBA Charter Show is set to open its doors in less than two months - and there's already an almighty lineup to get excited about.

AXIOMA

The striking 236.3ft (72m) superyacht charter AXIOMA made headlines back in March 2022 when authorities in Gibraltar seized the motor yacht charter as part of sanctions against Russian oligarch Dmitry Pumpyansky.

Following her seizure, she became the first superyacht to be auctioned under the new sanctions, attracting strong interest from buyers worldwide. The winning bid came in at $37.5 million—well below her estimated value of $75 million—marking a rare opportunity for a buyer to acquire a world-class yacht at a significant discount.

Proceeds from the sale were directed toward repaying a $20 million loan to JP Morgan, while additional funds covered maintenance and crew costs. AXIOMA's story underscores the shifting landscape of the superyacht industry in the wake of global sanctions.

ALFA NERO

Finding herself at the center of international headlines after being seized by the government of Antigua and Barbuda in April 2023, 266.8ft (81.28m) superyacht charter ALFA NERO remained in Falmouth Harbour since early 2022. Linked to Russian billionaire Andrey Guryev, in June 2023 the Oceanco yacht charter went under the hammer, with the highest bid coming in at $67.6 million. However, a dispute over ownership led to further delays.

Eventually, in July 2024, charter yacht ALFA NERO was sold to a European buyer for $40 million, and then underwent an extensive refit.
