After much speculation, it is being reported that the Cannes Yachting Festival will not be going ahead this year as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Joining a long list of cancelled yachting events, the Cannes Yachting Festival will not be going ahead this year. Instead, organizers are looking ahead to a bigger and better-than-ever event in 2021.
An official press release has not yet been given. However, it's understood that the decision was made after an application to lift the 5,000 person restriction on events in France was rejected.
The news comes after the show's organizers wrote a letter to exhibitors asking them to give an indication of their clients' participation earlier this week.
The show was set to take place between 8 - 13 September 2020 between Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto. Around 700 vessels are usually on display at the show, with thousands of attendees from across the globe.
With numbers already looking lower than usual, the exhibitors seem to have made the correct choice to cancel.
