The 68m/223’ motor yacht SYCARA V has undergone some interior layout changes to create more space for crew accommodation in order meet MLC requirements.
Built by Nobiskrug in 2010, she is now being offered for charter with six en suite staterooms including a main deck master suite and five guest cabins designed for flexible use as well as additional room for her crew of 18. An extra single stateroom featuring a Pullman berth has now been closed off from the other guest staterooms as per the original layout to create accommodation for two new crew positions.
Devised to oversee and form guidelines for crew members on board ‘commercial’ vessels including luxury charter yachts, the Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) came into force back in August. It included the increase in crew accommodation applying to all ships and yachts, whether publicly or privately owned, that are ordinarily engaged in commercial activities upon entering the ports of nations adhering to the MLC (port states), as well as to all yachts flying the flag of states which have ratified the MLC (flag states).
