Following two days of dramatic racing in the British Virgin Islands, the 38m Perini Navi sailing yacht P2 and 55m Vitters superyacht MARIE took victory the Loro Piana Superyacht Piana Regatta.
The final day of the event fulfilled its promise of delivering first-class regatta racing, with a number of impressive sailing yachts – including 33m Vitters yacht INOUI, S/Y P2 and 27m Swan yacht FREYA - in the running in Class A. Sublime weather conditions set the scene for an excellent day of racing, with downwind winds experienced on the anticlockwise course around Virgin Gorda.
As 48m sloop Wisp and ketch MARIE battled to get ahead, the 59m Perini Navi yacht SEAHAWK was able to take Class B a minute ahead. Meanwhile in Class A, P2 narrowly took victory over Freya and S/Y 'Cape Arrow' – the latter by a margin of only 34 seconds.
Speaking on the victory of his yacht’s team, P2’s owner commented, “I have a great crew and this victory is theirs, not mine. I am very, very happy.” A prize giving ceremony took place in the afternoon following the racing.
