Scenes on board the 99m/325ft classic yacht CHRISTINA O are currently being filmed off the Balearic island of Mallorca, recreating the royal couple’s 1991 yacht vacation in Italy – one of the last family outings before their separation the following year.
The scenes will feature in the upcoming fifth installment of the hugely popular Netflix series The Crown, starring Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West in their portrayals of Princess Diana and Prince Charles respectively as they celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary on board.
The classic yacht CHRISTINA O has been selected to represent the yacht ALEXANDER, on which the royal couple and the two young princes originally holidayed.
Launched in 1943, CHRISTINA O boasts an impressive past having once served in World War 2 as a convoy escort and was then bought for scrap value by the Greek Shipping tycoon, Aristotle Onassis, who spent a further $4 million refurbishing her as a luxury yacht.
The yacht went on to host a raft of luminaries, from the likes of Winston Churchill, Marilyn Munroe and Grace Kelly around the burgeoning superyacht destination of the French Riviera during the fifties and sixties, and has continued to prove a popular choice for luxury yacht charters ever since.
Showcasing decadent Old-World glamour and allure, she is still one of the largest yachts in the fleet and available to charter for $647,500 a week.
What you get for that is incredible five-star service from her highly-trained and professional crew of 38, as well as a raft of luxurious on board amenities; from her array of spectacular wellness options in her Six Senses spa to her sprawling alfresco living spaces, including an exquisite mosaic-tiled pool that can be elevated at the touch of a button to become a dance floor.
She has hosted a raft of luminaries from the likes of Winston Churchill, Marilyn Munroe and Grace Kelly.
Her palatial interiors are no less exquisite, with her stunning gilded spiral staircase leading to a piano lounge and bar, perfect for elegant soirees or pre-dinner aperitifs.
