An on-board RYA Water Sports Training Centre Yacht is a huge advantage for guests on a private yacht charter. Having an on-board RYA Training Centre means the crew are able to provide ‘Personal Watercraft Safety Courses’, which will grant guests a temporary PWC (Personal Watercraft) license.
If you wish to use Jet-Skis or other personal water crafts (PWCs) while on your private yacht charter, choosing a yacht with an RYA water sports centre will give you the training you need to use them safely.
In many countries, the laws surrounding PWC usage are particularly strict. Therefore, you must ensure you are safely trained, or you may be at risk of facing legal action.
There are many risks associated with PWCs, but most can be easily avoided with the proper training and information. Having a PWC license will give you the freedom and flexibility to enjoy water fun while chartering.
The on-board RYA-certified training centre means the crew can deliver the training. While it is brief, you will learn plenty of valuable information about how to operate and control personal watercrafts.
The training will cover topics including:
- Layout of the watercraft
- Controls
- Propulsion
- Personal safety
- Avoiding collision
- Speed awareness
- Re-boarding in deep waters
- Local hazards
- Communicating with the crew while using PWCs.
After taking a ‘PWC Safety Course’ you will receive a RYA certificate for the duration of the charter and for six months afterwards. The certificate is only valid on the yacht which you received the certificate on board.
If you would like a permanent license to use PWC's, you will need to acquire an RYA ICC certificate (International Certificate of Competence) which can be done at special training centres.
Please speak to your preferred yacht charter broker if you would like further details about how to charter a yacht with a RYA Training Centre.
