Hidden away on the lovely little French island of Porquerolles is Restaurant L’Olivier, a Michelin-starred retreat which wows with its sophisticated Provençal cuisine.
Part of this restaurant’s appeal is its secluded setting amid pristine Provençal landscape. In fact, it’s extremely difficult to find the mixture of aromatic pine trees, eucalyptus and herbs that surround this venue elsewhere on a French Riviera yacht charter.
Then there’s the views from the dining terrace: the bluer-than-blue Mediterranean waters glisten in the glorious sunshine and there isn’t a hint of civilisation in sight on the horizon.
Restaurant L’Olivier forms part of Le Mas Langoustier, one of only a handful of hotels on Porquerolles and by far the most luxurious. Tucked away on the island, the upscale bolthole can be quite a challenge to reach for those travelling on land. But fortunately for yacht-goers, it’s easy to reach by boat.
Those on a charter vacation can simply anchor off the coast of Plage Noire on the island’s western tip, take a tender ashore and then follow the pine-flanked path to the hotel and restaurant within for a sumptuous evening of culinary excellence created by Chef Joël Guillet.
Odes to Provençal classics populate the menus here; the onus is very much on the set tasting menus. Over three or seven courses, exquisite dishes such as Mediterranean red mullet, crispy monkfish, matured fillet of beef, and lemon confit and herb coulis can be enjoyed.
The wine selection also excels, as does the selection of local French cheeses and first-rate service. To start planning your Porquerolles superyacht vacation, view all luxury yachts available for charter in the South of France.
