Standing on a hill high above the town, the remains of the Venetian castle of Symi overlook the gorgeous harbor below, revealing breathtaking views of the entire town as well as the glistening Aegean Sea beyond it.
Built by the Knights of Saint John in the 14th century, the castle shares a wall that surrounds the Acropolis, on top of the hill. The original purpose of this castle was to protect locals against invasions, but it fell into the Turks’ hands after their attack in 1522.
Particularly stunning views that will be etched in your memory forever. Simply breathtaking.
After hiking up the Kali Strata stairs up to Choros, you'll bump into the Venetian castle where you can wander its remains and savor the outstanding and rewarding vistas from the very top.
