First Feadship Hybrid Electric Project 1012 embarks on sea trials

By Anna Ingles   19 April 2024

The Feadship Makkum facility has witnessed the unveiling of the groundbreaking Project 1012, a remarkable new yacht that stands out as the first of its kind within the Feadship fleet to boast a full Hybrid Electric Class notation.

The result of collaborative design efforts between Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, an owner's personal design team, and Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects, the captivating motor yacht has been crafted for an owner who is no stranger to the high seas. The vessel's exterior is the epitome of tailored elegance, shaped by the owner's precise vision, while the interior is envisaged as a sophisticated yet understated family retreat.

Spanning a majestic length of 301ft (91.80m), Project 1012 presents a striking profile with sharp exterior lines and a classic flared bow, marrying contemporary design with timeless maritime grace. Despite her grand scale, the yacht's interior spaces are thoughtfully arranged to provide intimate family sanctuaries, adorned with a selection of natural materials and artisanal finishes. All qualities that are highly desirable for family and crewed yacht charters.

A key feature that motivated the owner's decision to commission this yacht is the expansive beach club situated at the stern, which takes up a remarkable one-quarter of the lower deck's length. Ideal for watersports yacht charters, the impressive beach club is coupled with a vast, fixed stern platform and two additional fold-down platforms, creating a 165 sqm water-level leisure area.

Further enhancing Project 1012's luxury amenities is a capacious side-loading garage, capable of housing two 10-meter tenders, a ski boat, and an array of water toys suitable for a multitude of popular yacht charter destinations.

Positioned between the engine room and the beach club, the garage ensures seamless adventure and exploration capabilities. The forward section of the yacht is dedicated to the crew, featuring a functional galley, dining area, and comfortable living quarters.

Ascending from the stern platform, guests are greeted by grand staircases leading to the main deck aft, where they can indulge in a sizeable swimming pool and a shaded open-air lounge. Luxurious guest cabins are meticulously appointed on the main deck forward.

The upper decks are home to the master cabin, a cozy family lounge, and a wellness area, and the sundeck above is perfectly made for Mediterranean yacht charters with panoramic views, complete with a forward-facing sofa and sun loungers, while the aft deck houses two rescue tenders for additional safety.

The propulsion system of Project 1012 is a testament to Feadship's cutting-edge technology, integrating two main engines with shaft-driven fixed-pitch propellers and dual 560kW electric motors, supported by a 1MW lithium-ion battery array. This setup enables a range of operational modes, from traditional diesel propulsion to electric motor-assisted navigation, while also having the capability to generate electricity for onboard amenities or recharge the batteries.

It is currently unknown whether Project 1012 will be joining the global yacht charter fleet, but if you're interested in yacht rentals of a similar caliber take a look at all Feadship yacht charters, or contact your preferred yacht charter broker for details on the latest offers and yacht rental costs.
