M/Y INFINITY NINE Achieves SEA Index® Certification for Sustainable Yachting

This recognition places motor yacht charter INFINITY NINE among a select fleet of eco-conscious yachts assessed under the SEA Index® framework, an initiative launched by YCM and Credit Suisse (a UBS brand) in 2020. Designed to measure and promote sustainable yachting practices, the system has now certified 55 yachts, solidifying its role as a benchmark for the industry’s environmental responsibility.

As the second motor yacht in the AvA Yachts Kando 110 series, charter yacht INFINITY NINE is a compact explorer with transoceanic capabilities, boasting an impressive 6,500-nautical-mile range before refueling. With a gross tonnage of 333 GT, the design of the expedition charter yacht prioritizes both performance and eco-conscious efficiency, earning it a highly sought-after SEA Index® 3-Star certification.

The SEA Index® certification process, developed in collaboration with Lloyd’s Register and utilizing advanced tools like the Lifecycle Emissions Calculator, provides yacht owners with a transparent and rigorous assessment of their yacht's environmental impact.

By calculating CO2 emissions in grams per gross ton per hour, the methodology aligns with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) standards while offering specific adaptations for yachts over 24m.

Set to integrate fuel cell technology assessments by September 2024, the SEA Index® continues to push the boundaries of sustainable yachting. The program is exploring additional greenhouse gas metrics, including NOx and fine particulate emissions, to further refine its evaluation process. By collaborating with international classification societies, the SEA Index® is equipping owners with actionable strategies for reducing their environmental footprint.
