The 2014 Mediterranean Yacht Show made its industry debut this morning in the picturesque port of Nafplion in Greece and has already received widespread praise from those who were first on the docks.
The Yacht Charter Fleet editorial team were up bright and early this morning ready to see the impressive line-up of top-quality superyachts that have made their way to the show for its highly anticipated opening. The crews were all out in force cleaning every inch of their vessels as they gleamed underneath the Mediterranean sun, ensuring every preparation is made for visitors as it would be if they were on a charter. The recently renamed motor yacht BARENTS SEA (ex PANTHER II) is here with her new Maltese flag as is the 32m classic motor yacht CAMELLIA II which is brand new to the charter fleet along with her elegant vintage tender.
We have spoken with a number of brokers from companies around the world and each of them have expressed how well the event is fairing so far and how beautiful the town of Nafplion. And beautiful it is - the stunning, traditional piazzas and winding streets are lined with boutiques and elegant restaurants and offer everything you could need during a stop-off on a Greek luxury yacht charter. The Mediterranean Yacht Show is the first to be organised by the newly formed Greek Yachting Association (GYA) and already looks set to be an important fixture on the yachting calendar for the future.
The selection of charter yachts on display are also looking great and we've been taking a look around as well as meeting the Captain's and crew all morning so that we can report back with all the latest refits and new to the market yachts. Watch this space for all the latest news and images from the show as we see it.
