The 2014 edition of the Monaco Yacht Show officially opened this morning and the atmosphere in Port Hercules suggests the eagerly awaited event is sure to live up to this year’s high expectations.
Last night Camper & Nicholsons International kicked off the week in usual glittering style with their annual Monaco Yacht Club Soirée, held in the stunning new Yacht Club de Monaco. Guests were treated to champagne and sushi throughout the evening, along with some fantasic live music. The new premises have set the tone for this year’s superyacht meeting which has provided an additional 15 berths more than the 2013 show to accommodate an ever increasing demand from brokers and clients.
Prince Albert II of Monaco made an appearance on the docks today, much to the delight of waiting onlookers. The Prince establishes a strong presence in support of the show every year and we saw him taking a look around 47m 2014 built luxury motor yacht ENTOURAGE before greeting a number of guests and heading off to enjoy the rest of the opening day of the show.
There are more than 500 exhibitors amongst the hustle and bustle on the port today, made up of world leading luxury yacht builders, brokerage houses, designers, nautical suppliers, luxury manufacturers and service providers. Around 34,000 visitors are expected to attend the Monaco Yacht Show over the next four days. The line-up of superyachts that are available for charter is particularly good this year and we have already been impressed by yacts such as the 78m Lurssen-built TV.
