It has been reported by SuperYachtTimes.com that the popular 68m luxury motor yacht Kismet has been sold and withdrawn from the global charter fleet.
According to the respected Dutch superyacht news website, the yacht was sold last week and the new owner is planning to use her for private use only. Kismet's broker Tim Morley said "The yacht is now renamed Global, and is undergoing a full overhaul of engines and generators. She will soon be repainted and given a helipad extension to accommodate an EC135 helicopter that has been purchased for the yacht. She will no longer be available for charter".
This is clearly a blow the charter market as superyacht Global (ex Kismet) is a high quality vessel with a good crew. However, every cloud has a silver lining as it was announced that "Kismet II", the new 94m (308ft) replacement, currently under construction in Germany at Lurssen's Rendsburg shipyard, will be available for luxury yacht charter vacations next year after her delivery. Little is know about Kismet II at the moment however it has been confirmed that she was designed by Espen Oeino and Reymond Langton Design is responsible for her interior.
For those who cannot wait until "Kismet II" is available may be interested to hear that there are a number of new Lurssen yachts for charter, including Solandge, Phoenix 2, Quattroelle, Ace, as well as more established charter yachts TV (ex Madsummer) and the newly refurbished Titania.
