Donald Trump’s Travel Policy Won’t Affect Superyacht Charters In Cuba

Whilst the new president recently laid out a series of restrictions for US citizens keen to travel to Cuba, the directive should pose no concerns for those visiting the Caribbean island on board a superyacht.

Though he Initially planned to reverse the more relaxed laws set out by former president Barack Obama, Donald Trump largely left the existing Cuba travel policy in its current state.

More specifically, it is still the case that visitors to Cuba have to conform to one of the 12 recognised exceptions which permit them to step on the mainland without violating the terms enforced by the historic embargo between the two countries.

In terms of yacht charter vacations which take place around the island, this means that guests can still acquire the necessary authorization by planning their vacation to satisfy one of the exceptions outlined by the US government.

The exception which is most commonly used to facilitate superyacht charters in Cuba is the one designated for ‘cultural and educational exchanges’.

Indeed, by creating an appropriate itinerary which conforms to the requirements of the law, guests will still be able to enjoy the exceptional cruising grounds on offer.
