Some of the world’s most spectacular superyachts have arrived at the Yas Island Marina in preparation for the 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which kicks off today and concludes on 29th November in the final race of the Formula 1 season.
Around 245 vessels are expected to descend on Yas Island for three days of thrilling racing action, glittering parties and ample amounts of glamour. One of the most highly-anticipated events in both the yachting and sporting calendar, the race unfolds on the Yas Marina Circuit, putting the impressive crowd of superyachts at the heart of the action.
Lewis Hamilton has already clinched this year’s world championship title but, following two consecutive victories from his team-mate Nico Rosberg, the British racing driver is expected to put on a heart-fluttering performance to end the season on a high.
A permanent fixture on the F1 schedule since 2009, the Yas Marina Circuit hosts the only twilight race of the season, attracting more than 50,000 attendees each year.
The marina has been a hive of activity this past week as superyachts arrive to indulge in its luxurious facilities before the main event gets underway. Offering a lively dining and entertainment scene, the marina is the perfect location to take a break from the track-side action, enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants or party at a choice or bars and nightclubs.
Specifically catering to the unique needs of superyachts, Yas Marina offers track view and non-track view berths for superyachts up to 150 metres.
The event’s after-race concerts are set to impress at the open-air Du Arena. As well as world-class artists such as Florence + The Machine, Blur and Enrique Iglesias, there will also be live performances from jaw-dropping circus acts and trapeze artists.
