More than 70 superyachts will be making their way towards the Caribbean island of Antigua over the upcoming week in time for the Antigua Charter Yacht Show 2017 which opens its doors on Monday 4th December.
Showcasing some of the world’s finest charter yachts, the industry-only event will take place over seven days in the show locations of Nelson’s Dockyard Marina, Antigua Yacht Club Marina and Falmouth Harbour Marina.
Yacht viewings will begin at 9.30am on 5th December and continue until 6pm on 9th December, interspersed by broker lunches, seminar sessions and a whole host of evening events.
As well as the annual welcome cocktail party at the Copper & Lumber Store Hotel, there will be yacht hops, crew parties and a ‘Lets Rebuild Barbuda’ charity event.
Another mainstay of the show is the chefs’ culinary contest which is now in its 18th year. For 2017, chefs will be challenged to create a ‘Caribbean Sunday ‘Funday’ Brunch’ which could be served to a yacht charter party of both adults and children.
Stewards and stewardesses will also have the chance to wow the judges in a tablescaping competition with a ‘Caribbean Sea’ theme. Winners of both contests will be revealed in an awards ceremony at Admiral Inn on 8th December.
The main draw, however, will be the superyachts in attendance. A must-see is Lurssen’s 90m/295ft superyacht ‘Phoenix 2’ which, after recently joining the charter market, will be sure to wow all those who step aboard with her exceptional facilities and Andrew Winch styling.

Show goers will also be keen to check out the 50m/164ft motor yacht VERTIGE from Tankoa Yachts. Launched in April 2017, she is one of the newest additions to the charter market and boasts a variety of appealing features from master suite side balconies to a spacious drop-down swim platform.
Other top yachts include the 58m/190ft Benetti motor yacht ‘Illusion V’, Feadship’s 50m/164ft motor yacht HANIKON and the 56m/185ft motor yacht ‘My Seanna’ from Delta Marine.
There will also be a spectacular fleet of sailing yachts welcoming industry professionals aboard, such as the 38m/126ft regatta-winning charter yacht P2 and the 55m/180ft charter yacht MARIE.
Once the show draws to a close, the exhibiting yachts will begin their winter cruising season in the region, with attending brokers equipped with the insider knowledge needed to match their clients with the most suitable charter yacht.
