Returning to Port Hercules between 26-29 September, the Monaco Yacht Show 2018 is set to impress with a superb selection of superyachts and some fantastic new features.
Next week thousands will flock to the superyacht capital of the world, Monaco to see a showcase of 120 of the finest luxury yachts. This year promises to be the best Monaco Yacht Show yet with changes to the event itself that will maximise the comfort and enjoyment of guests.
Here's our guide to what's new and what you can expect from the event when it gets underway in a weeks’ time.
One of the most notable changes is the restructuring of the layout, which will do away with the central T dock and make full use of a new 240 metre jetty extending from the Quai des Etats-Unis.
Here, yacht designers, builders and brokerage houses will be lined up alongside their in-water yachts, rather than being spread across the event, as was the case in previous years. The redesign will allow clients to find industry professionals with ease and contribute to a seamless and accessible flow to the event.
With 540 exhibitors in total, the restructure will benefit all areas of the Monaco Yacht Show 2018. Nautical suppliers will now exhibit their products and services exclusively in the Darse Sud tent and along Quai Albert 1er, leaving the Parvis Piscine dedicated to non-yachting luxury goods.
Quai Antoine 1er will also play host to The Car Deck, complete with the MYS prestige car exhibition, and the Starboard lounge and art exhibition will add to the luxury lifestyle theme of this area.
This year, the Toys & Tenders zone is expected to welcome three times more exhibitors than last year, and will therefore occupy more space. Launched in 2017, the popular section showcases the latest in innovative toys and state-of-the-art tenders, with demonstrations available for prospective buyers to get to grips with the new technology.
The zone will remain in Quai Jarlan, but this year it will be extended along Quai Antoine 1er to give exhibitors ample room to show off their cutting-edge accessories.
Around 40 new models are expected to premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show, with the freshly launched 89m/291ft superyacht ‘Illusion Plus’ expected to be the largest by gross tonnage in attendance. Currently on her way from her shipyard in China to the South of France, visitors will be able to admire her up close when she arrives at the event.
Taking second place as the largest yacht in length and by gross tonnage is the 90m/295ft superyacht DAR, a motor yacht from Oceanco which was met with much acclaim when she launched earlier this year. She is expected to garner a similar reaction when she debuts at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018.
Other stand-out yachts making their premiere include GO, a 77m/253ft motor yacht that is the largest built by Turkish shipyard Turquoise. Her sleek aquamarine exterior is sure to turn heads at the show this year.
