Representing one of the biggest launches of the year, German builder Lloyd Werft has released the magnificent 140m (459ft) expedition yacht SOLARIS from its Bremerhaven yard for the first time.
But as spectacular as this explorer yacht may be (as the first look of SOLARIS shows) the same could not entirely be said for its launch. Unfortunately, thick fog was dominating the skies at the shipyard when the vessel was due to make her public debut.
she comprises eight decks, a helipad, and a beach club aft
Nevertheless, SOLARIS's misty debut did provide us with a more detailed glimpse of her design: sporting a graceful, sleek silhouette characterized by clean lines, an ivory superstructure and a pale grey hull. Designed by Marc Newson, the vessel marks the designer's very first superyacht project.
While few details thus far have been revealed as to her GA, what we do know is that she comprises eight decks, a helipad and a beach club aft. There is also a crane onboard to launch tenders.
It is not expected that SOLARIS will be a yacht to charter once she’s delivered to her owner — reportedly Roman Abramovich.
