OceanScape Yachts Joins Forces With YachtAid Global

By Louise Marsh   19 August 2013

OceanScape Yachts has pledged to support YachtAid Global in its mission to deliver aid through luxury yachts.

YachtAid Global is a highly acclaimed charity that makes use of luxury yachts in remote areas to deliver aid, school supplies and other support to local communities. Committing to support the charity on an ongoing basis, OceanScape Yacht’s Todd Beechey says the company is thrilled to be a part of this initiative.

“I am very excited to announce our partnership with YachtAid Global. We think that there is a very good fit between the two organisations, where we are both using innovative, new approaches to achieve our goals. YAG is doing great work in terms of providing aid and support to maritime communities where providing that support is logistically challenging. With OceanScape Yachts, I want to share some of our successes with an organisation that is having a real impact in an area that is related to the yachting community, and YAG fits that bill perfectly!”

A new, industry-first campaign is soon to be launched by OceanScape Yachts that will also benefit YachtAid Global. A percentage of the pledges made to this crowdfunding campaign will go straight to the charity in order to support its ongoing work.

Launching on 9th September, the campaign is designed to open up the superyacht industry to a much wider audience. Pledges begin at $2,000 right up to $65,000 and perks include eBooks of chef’s recipes direct from the galley to week-long luxury yacht charter vacations.

OceanScape’s network of yachts makes it the perfect partner for YachtAid Global whose mission is changing the world without changing course. An international range of yachts means there are more locations which can be tapped into when the need for aid arises.

YachtAid Global has helped over 15,000 people worldwide and has made deliveries to communities in Alaska, Gulfo de Chiriqui, Panama, Fiji, Polynesia, Southern Chile, Easter Island and Vanuatu, to name but a few.

Because yachts can move easily into isolated areas that are mostly unreachable by the larger ships of relief organisations, YachtAid Global has become very adept at providing disaster relief and has delivered aid to the tsunami-struck Robinson Crusoe Island. This tiny island off the coast of Chile had most of its seaside village destroyed and, due to the remoteness of the village, it was difficult to get aid to the island.

The entirely volunteer-run and funded organisation is scheduling another fifteen deliveries throughout the remainder of 2013 and 2014.

We think that there is a very good fit between the two organisations, where we are both using innovative, new approaches to achieve our goals - Todd Beechey, OceanScape Yachts
